Pyrolysis

Pyrolysis is a controlled thermal decomposition of organic raw materials. It is an environmentally friendly waste recycling method which causes no direct combustion.

Depending on the type of raw materials processed secondary products may be obtained. For example, during the pyrolysis of tires an additional product is fired steel cord, in the pyrolysis of waste oil products paraffin is produced, and in the pyrolysis of wood it is charcoal.
 

The output value of furnace fuel and carbonaceous residue after pyrolysis depends on the type, composition and calorific value of the processed waste.

Utilization of sour tars

Oil sludge is a physiochemical mixture consisting of oil products and mechanical impurities that are formed at all stages of oil production, transportation and refining. 
Pyrolysis is the most promising method for the disposal of oil sludge because in this process oil sludge is processed into a secondary product suitable for reclamation of disturbed lands, construction of roads or backfilling of production sites. Formed pyrolysis gas serves as fuel to ensure the operation of the installation itself.

Financial indicators

The sensitivity analysis of the project was carried out based on the change in the main indicators. NPV, IRR and the payback period in relation to the price of the final product in the form of pyrolysis oil (heating oil) and inflationary expectations expressed in the discount rate adopted in the amount of 6% to 14%. 

Analysis of the price influence shows a significant margin of safety for the project. With a price decrease within 10%, the internal stack of probability changes by only 3 points and is 61%, which is a significant indicator. The payback period varies within one month. A change (price reduction) to 20% will change the internal rate of return by 7 points to 57% and increase the payback period by 5 weeks, which gives a project adjustment within 7%. At the same time, an increase in the price level by 10-15% increases the internal rate of return by 5-8 points and reduces the payback period by 3-4 weeks.

Project sensitivity analysis

Changes in inflationary expectations, at rates from 0 to 6% to 16%, fluctuations in the main indicators change within 10% with high rates (12-16%), which does not have a significant impact on the project (payback periods increase by 5 weeks). At 6-8%, there are practically no changes.

Within the threshold values, the project will not lose its investment attractiveness, has a significant margin of safety and is stable with significant fluctuations in the market. The ROI cannot be adjusted by more than 10% in the worst market conditions.
